Born to William Thomas and Ruby Baber in Nashville, Arkansas.

Jimmie Dan is survived by his younger brother, Michael Thomas Baber aka “Mickey”.

Married in 1956 for 67 years, to Carole Virginia Riley Baber. They have 5 children, Daniel (Janet), Debbie

(T.J.), Thomas (Nancy), John (Lori) and Samuel (Kristi, preceded in death).

21 grandchildren: Rachel, Nathan, James, Bethany, Luke, Abigail, Timothy, Thaddaeus, Hannah,

Mary, Josiah, Anna, Liza, Michael, Heather, Elyse, Brooke, William, Zak, Benjamin, and Matthew.

2 Great grandchildren: Reese and Judah.

Jimmie Dan graduated from high school in Hope, Arkansas in 1952. He worked tying steel in Tennessee and enrolled in Baylor University, Waco, Texas, in the fall of 1952.

He completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Baylor University in 1956, playing on the Baylor Golf

Team and was married the same year to his “prayer mate” , Carole.

They first moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Jimmie taught high school and coached. In 1957

Jimmie was drafted into the Army Reserve in California.

Jimmie and Carole moved west to New Mexico in 1958 and he worked at the Rainbo Baking Company in Albuquerque, which would be a relationship, lasting decades as he set up his distribution company in Taos and Espanola and served Northern New Mexico stores and restaurants. His first child Daniel was born in Albuquerque in 1961, followed by Debbie in 1962. Next, Thomas in 1967, John in 1972 and Samuel in 1977 were born in Los Alamos, where Jimmie and

Carole reared their five children.

Jimmie Dan was a builder and a farmer. While in New Mexico operating his bread business he managed a farm in Arkansas where he grew wheat, soybeans, and cattle.

After losing their home in the Cerro Grande fire in Los Alamos in 2000, Jimmie and Carole moved to

Waco, ending where they started their lives together, enjoying their grandchildren, golf, and farming.

They were members of First Baptist Church of Los Alamos, Columbus Baptist Church in Waco and

currently Carole is a member at Fellowship Bible Church in McGregor.

Memorial Service to be held at Grace Gardens in Waco, Texas on February 3, 2024, at 11:00.
