James “Jim” Alton Walsleben, age 86, of Hewitt, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Funeral Service will be 2pm, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Waco. A visitation with the family will begin at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Valley Mills Cemetery.
Jim was born in Clifton, Texas on February 24, 1937 to Gus and Dorothy Walsleben. He served his country by joining the US Navy. After his four-year enlistment was completed, he married Ruby Necessary, the love of his life. He then joined the US Air Force and served proudly another four years.
His early career as a teletype technician for UPI took him all over the state of Texas. After UPI, he moved back to Clifton, Texas and opened and operated Walsleben Heat and Air until his retirement in 2005.
He is proceeded in death by his parents,
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruby of Hewitt; sons, Tim and wife Adela of Bandera, Texas, Robert and wife Marti of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Dottie Lassetter and husband Kevin of Hewitt; grandchildren, Derrick Walsleben, Michael Walsleben and wife Ashley, Molli and Maddi Walsleben, Amber Lassetter; and great grandchildren, Brynlee Lassetter, Waverly and Sloane Walsleben; brothers, Lloyd and wife Joyce of Clifton, Gary and Lynn of Flower Mound; and numerous nieces and nephews.
