Jessie “Walters” Chambers, 90 of Waco, passed away, Friday, June 24, 2016. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, officiated by, Rev. Greg Brumit followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Jessie was born in Belleville, Ark. to Ed and Willie Walters. She married Seth Lamar Chambers on June 26, 1943 in Monticello, Ark. They moved to Waco, TX. in 1949.

Jessie was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved by everyone that met her. One of her greatest joys was helping out at Kendrick Lane Baptist Church where she was a lifelong member. If the church doors were open, we were there as a family, and more times than not, she and my dad unlocked the doors. Our sweetest memories growing up were going to church with mom and dad and seeing all of our Christian friends.

Mom was a wonderful seamstress, not only to her family but to many friends all over Waco. In later years she worked at M & M Mars where she retired in 1989.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lamar, of 51 yrs; precious parents, Ed & Willie Walters and loving brother, Ed Walters Jr.

Left to cherish her memory is son, Dewayne Chambers and wife, Pam of Prosper, TX; daughter, Charlotte Tanner and husband, Ronnie of Hewitt; grandchildren, Tami Nutt and husband, Scott of Hewitt; Cam Chambers of Lubbock; Caleb Chambers of Plano; great-grandson Austin Nutt of Hewitt; sisters, Juanita Hutchinson and Barbara Whited of Lubbock and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks goes to Bennie Martin for the love and care she has always given to "our" Mom. Thanks also to her neighbors, Janie, Tim, Reba, Yolanda, Wanda and William for watching over her many, many years. God Bless you all.

The family would like to acknowledge the loving care given to mom by the staff at Senior Care of Hewitt and SouthernCare Hospice of Waco. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International, Waco Northwest Gideon Camp at P. O. Box 5037, Waco, TX. 76708-0037 or a special charity close to your heart.
