Jerry Smith

Jerry Wayne Smith, of Eddy, formally of McGregor, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the age of 72. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, July 31, 2017, at First United Methodist Church of Moody, with Reverend Josh Pruett officiating. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 pm, Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive, Waco, Texas 76712.

Jerry was born December 22, 1944 in Moody, the son of the late William N. and Ruby Ethel (Naler) Smith, where he attended school. He was a descendent of a Prominent founding Moody family, who donated the land for the city of Moody. On May 28, 1965, he married the love of his life, Mary Nell Burris at First United Methodist Church of McGregor, and they have lived happily together for 52 years.

Jerry loved traveling the country and had a lifelong career as a self employed truck driver who owned his own trucks. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Moody.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Nell; sons: Bobby Smith and wife Tammy of Moody, Kevin Smith and wife Misty of Moody; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers: Earl Ray Smith, Dan Smith sisters: Johnnie Farmer Jan Hubbard and husband Loye; and many nieces and nephews.

For those desiring, the family has suggested First United Methodist Church of Moody Bereavement Committee for memorial contributions.
