Jene Carolyn (Walters) Mooney

Jene Carolyn (Walters) Mooney, 86, of McGregor passed away on Wednesday March 15, 2023.   Visitation with family will be held Saturday March 25, 2023 from 2-3PM at Grace Gardens Funeral Chapel Waco, TX followed by a celebration of life from 3-4PM.

Mrs. Mooney was born December 5, 1936 to the late Charlie Wynn and Aileen (Oglesby) Walters.  She attended school in McGregor where she graduated in 1955.  On July 18, 1959 she married William Edward Mooney who proceeded her in death on January, 4 1998.

Jene was a natural caregiver. She worked for many years at the McGregor Clinic for Dr. Thompson, Dr. Carrol Robertson and Dr. Gene Robertson where she did everything from treating patients, running labs to filing insurance claims.  In 1987 she went to work for Waco Bone & Joint where she worked until her retirement in 2002.  During her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many activities.  Also proceeding her in death was a daughter; Carolyn Shawn Keel, two brothers; William Walters and Joe Bob Walters and two sisters; Juanda McMullen and Ida Kaelin.

Survivors include two sons, Barry Mooney & girlfriend Vina Wilson and Charles Mooney and wife Tina of McGregor.  Son-in-law Donald Keel of Waco.  Five grandchildren, Travis Mooney & wife Dominque of Crowley, Tobi Mooney of McGregor, Britany & Brandi Keel of Waco and Ty Mooney & wife Shelby of Mcgregor.  Thirteen great-grandchildren, Peyton Coleman, Paxton Mooney, Kynsler Phillips, Johnathan Arias, Jayden & Jordan Awbrey, Avah, Amarie, Joshua and Alayiah Medina and Jaxon, Kohen and Amiyah Mooney.  As well as several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
