Jeanette Jean Bennett

Jeanette Dieterich Bennett, 85, beloved Mother, Granny, and Great Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place in Heaven on November 6, 2024.

On March 16, 1939, a girl was born in the home of Leo and Meta Dieterich in Riesel, Texas, whom they named Jeanette Jean. Jeanette attended Trinity Lutheran school for eight years. She entered Riesel High School as a freshman. In school, Jeanette had a perfect attendance record until her Junior year in high school. During her four years in high school, she was a force to be reckoned with in basketball, volleyball, and softball. She was also a Majorette for one year, cheerleader for two years, a member of FHA for four years, and took part in the Senior play. Some of her likes were sports, friendly people, pecan pie, and Chevrolets. Jeanette was the "baby" of her family and had one sister, Laverna, and two brothers, Curtis, and Clarence (Rabbit) Dieterich.

Jeanette Dieterich married Don Bennett on September 28,1958. They raised three strong, independent minded children, Gary, Jerry and Carolyn Bennett. Jeanette worked as a secretary at Mutual of Omaha in Waco, Texas. She later served her family as a homemaker, holding down the home and raising her three children. In 1985, she and Don started Brazos Valley Contracting Company. She managed the office for Brazos Valley Contracting for over 20 years. Her sons, Gary and Jerry Bennett, still own and successfully run this company and continue it's legacy.

Jeanette was a life long fan of Elvis Presley and had a room dedicated to all things “Elvis”. She enjoyed her world travels to New England and Europe and proudly wore her Swiss made watch until the day she passed.

She is survived by her sister Laverna Pursche of Waco, Texas; son Gary Bennett and wife Karon, son Jerry Bennett and wife Shannon, daughter Carolyn Scott and husband Marc, all of Waco, Texas; grandchildren Brittni Summers and husband Jarad of Riesel, Texas; Brianna Wren and husband Payton of Riesel, Texas; Jerry D. Bennett of Donie, Texas, Ashley Bennett of Waco, Texas, David Bennett of Lampasas, Texas, Hannah Putman of Riesel Texas, Lane Scott of Houston, Texas, Kelsey Robinson and husband Tyler of Riesel, Texas, and ; great-grandchildren Chase Bennett, Ace Wren, Rowdy Wren, Maggie Summers, Mason Summers, and Mollee Summers. In addition, her memories are cherished my numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of your choosing in Jeanette’s honor.
