Jean Williams, 81, of Marlin, passed away on February 6, 2022 after a brief illness. Services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, with Reverend Steve Stokes officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.
Jean was born July 3, 1940 in Marlin, Texas to Guy Stricklin and Kathryn Jones Stricklin. She graduated from Marlin High School in 1957 and enrolled in the University of North Texas, where she received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education in 1962. She pursued additional education at Baylor University to earn her teaching certification in elementary education, which proved to be her passion.
Jean was a devoted mother, teacher, and friend. She will be fondly remembered by the many students she taught throughout the years, as well as the children she taught in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was dedicated to early childhood education and was an excellent teacher in public schools in Marlin, Temple, & Waco. Jean loved Jesus and her family most of all.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and watching classic movies.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Martha Hennig-Perren. Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Hull of Woodway and Monica Collier of Austin, sister Ann Byer of Riesel, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Ethan Collier, Seth Collier, grandsons-in-law Justin Hilton and DJ Kucera, and Jeff Blancit.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at Baylor Scott & White Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Talitha Koum of Waco.
