She grew up in Hamilton with her three adored brothers and graduated from Hamilton High School. In 1949, she married Milton Dunlop, Sr. and their great journey lasted for 58 years. In 1961, they moved their family to Waco where they later became co-partners of Dunlop’s of Waco. In her last working years, Jean was employed by and retired from the US Office of Personnel Management. Jean and Milton were blessed with four children. Jean treasured all of her family and felt her greatest blessings in life were her children and grandchildren. Jean was a faithful member of Western Heights Baptist Church for more than 50 years where she served as long time Rachel Class Sunday School teacher and this privilege was a treasured priority in her life. The Rachel Class and the love she had for its members brought her great joy. She passionately served and mentored this class and its members witnessed her faith, kindness and tenacious spirit of dedication to them. Jean most enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling with her husband, reading, playing bridge, landscaping her yard and volunteering with the American Red Cross. She was a graduate of Bible Study Fellowship, a member of many clubs and honorably served on multiple church committees. Survivors include her daughter, Diane Jenkins and husband Bart of Waco; daughter Penny Dunlop of Waco; son, Milton Dunlop, Jr. of Katy and daughter, Lauri Newlin and husband James of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer Snyder and husband Luke of Waco; Melissa Dunlop Graham and husband Jon of Creede, Colorado; Jade Hunt of Houston, Garrett and Anna Newlin of Springfield, Missouri as well as four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, Raymond, Truett and James Hampton; and grandson, Joshua Jenkins. She was blessed by abiding relationships with her extended family. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the healthcare workers at Ridgecrest Retirement Center and Bluebonnet Health Care who so compassionately served Jean and the entire family these past months. Special appreciation goes to her many friends from Western Heights Baptist Church and especially the Rachel Class, whose loving members were constantly by her side until the end.
