Jay C. Whitt passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in Houston, Texas. He was born in Waco, Texas on August 2, 1952, to the late J.D. and Nita Whitt. He attended Waco public schools and graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Accounting. Upon his graduation, he moved to the Houston area, where he was a lifelong resident. Jay was a CPA for prominent Houston philanthropists, Eddy Scurlock and Jack Blanton, for many years.
Jay loved life and lived it to its fullest. He loved to travel with family and friends and especially enjoyed his time working in Puerto Rico. He loved going to concerts of all kinds, reading, bike riding, scuba diving, golfing, boating, and camping. He earned his black belt in martial arts and, with a little sense of adventure, he earned his pilot's license. Jay was happiest when he was working in his beautiful backyard accompanied by Cinnamon, his beloved dachshund.
Jay is survived by his brother Joe Bob Whitt, his sister Sandra Whitt Callan and her husband Michael Callan, his nephew Mike Callan and his wife Amy, his niece Katie Haedge and her husband Jason, as well as great nieces and nephews Emily, Sarah, and Sam Callan, and Charlie and Ben Haedge. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Barry Whitt, his sister-in-law Anne Glasgow Whitt, and his nephew Thomas Glasgow Whitt.
A graveside service is planned at Oakwood Cemetery on May 26, 2023, at 11:00.
