Jason Collins

November 11, 1966 — June 7, 2017

Jason Collins passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017. A memorial service will be at 3 pm, Sat., June 10, doors will open an hour prior to service, at Calvary Chapel Church in Waco, TX 702 N. 18th St. 76707.
Jason was born in Bryan, Texas on Nov. 11, 1966 to Patricia and Bubber Collins. He is survived by his siblings, Jennifer Cowan and Heath Collins; his in-laws, Kris Cowan and Kristina Collins; his children, Tre Fuentes, John and Kelsey Collins, Mallory Campos, and Haylee Iddings; his grandchildren, Sophia Campos, Rachel Delacruz and Elias Jones; and his wife of 15 years, Tina Collins. Jason was a rockstar in every sense of the word, both on stage and off. He was a staple of the local music community since 1981 when he started his first band Z-Bec in middle school. He played in many other bands over the years the most well known of which was Flashback. Many will remember them from their nights playing at the Chelsea St. Pub. He once turned down David Koresh for a spot in his band for "not having enough charisma or stage presence."Although he loved being on stage he would chose his family over music every time. He lived for his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and treated any child as if they were his own. He touched everyone he knew and never met a stranger. Everyone he met spoke about how sincere and genuinely excited he was to meet you. He was a special soul that naturally drew people to him and brightened the lives of those around him. His sense of humor was also legendary, he was known to call the local rock station on a Saturday night (in the late nineties) and request "Mr. Roboto" over and over with different voices, once actually getting them to play it. Another time he called up the Jerry's Kids telethon and asked how much it was for one of the kids. He will be dearly missed, never replaced and will never be forgotten. Special thanks to Becky, who was his aid of three and a half years. Goodbye Jason, you will be remembered fondly.
