Janice Irvin age 90, of Moody passed away Friday September 28, 2012 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be 2PM Monday October 1, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Moody with Rev. Tom Shelton officiating. Interment will follow at Moody Cemetery. Visitation will be 1PM Monday prior to the service at the First Baptist Church.
Janice was born on January 29, 1922 in McGregor, Texas to Tom and Myrtle Smith. She graduated from Moody High School in 1939. After high school she worked at Bluebonnet Ordinance Plant in McGregor. She married Jack Irvin on October 7, 1944. They had their only child Linda while living and working in California. They moved back to Moody in 1959 and opened Irvin’s Variety Store until retirement in 1984. She and Jack loved to travel. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church teaching Sunday School for 25 years. After retirement Janice enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels. She served as the Treasurer of the Moody Cemetery Association for over 40 years. She was a faithful visitor to her friends at area nursing homes. Janice always put others first, having a servant’s spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1991; her parents and a brother Tom Smith Jr..
Janice is survived by her daughter Linda Coker and her husband Larry of Salado; 3 grandchildren Todd and Brandon Coker and Lori Jones; 8 great grandchildren.
