Jan "Bo" Burkitt

Jan Elizabeth Blassingame Burkitt, affectionately referred to as Boo, 59, of Waco, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014. Visitation will be Monday, August 11th, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be 11 am Tuesday, August 12, at Waco Memorial Cemetery.

Jan was born to Archie and Charlda Mae Blassingame on November 24, 1954. She was nicknamed Boo Boo because she was thought to be the caboose of the family, being the fourth daughter. Jan brought laughter and joy to each member of our family and was full of spunk. She maintained her feisty attitude even as she struggled for her final breath.

Jan married the love of her life, Todd Burkitt, on June 28, 1986. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and confidant. Boo could solve it all! We all cherish the time we had with her and will miss her beyond measure.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Hayleene, and an infant son.

She is survived by her husband, Todd Burkitt; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Desiree Farmer, grandchildren, Hailey and Jeremiah; sisters, Ann Buck, Cynthia Brock and Lisa Maxwell; niece, Deidra Halbert; and nephews, Stephen Buck, Mark Clifton, Tommie Saulters, and Zach and Brent Maxwell.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to her devoted niece, Deidra Halbert, who lovingly attended to her every need and her caregivers, Cindy, Gabby and Judy.

We are so very thankful that Jan is now able to breathe freely and walk the golden-paved streets of Heaven.
