James Allen Shafer

February 23, 1990 — October 27, 2024

Waco, Texas

James Allen Shafer, born on February 23, 1990, in Waco, TX, left us far too soon on October 27, 2024. Known for his kind heart and joyful spirit, James made friends wherever he went. He lived the life of a simple man and was proud of it, finding joy and beauty in all things nature and embracing life’s everyday moments.

James had many passions that reflected his fun personality and love for nature. He enjoyed playing his guitar and piano, filling the air with music that brightened the lives of those around him. A true nature enthusiast, he loved hiking, the peace of the outdoors, and the thrill of fishing. James embraced a carefree life and was known for grilling in the rain and creating his signature “concoctions,” as he liked to call them, of pepper sauces, which he enjoyed sharing with others. His green thumb brought him joy, and he spread his garden’s beauty by gifting seeds to friends and family. Proud to be known as "Uncle Rooster," he would call at random times just to tell his niece and nephews that he loved them, filling their lives with his smile and laughter through his goofiness and love for them.

James leaves behind his siblings in Waco, TX: his older brother Brian and Brian's son Axl; his sister Theresa and her husband Bryon, along with their children Cason, Brynlee, and George; and his younger brother and best friend, Michael, and Michael's son Reese. He is also survived by his devoted grandparents, Don and Lucy Finn ("Ma & Pa"), as well as by aunts, uncles, and cousins. James was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Brenda, his mother Gina, and his father Randy. His love for his mom was unending, and he felt close to her each day and missed her dearly. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

To honor James’s memory, a celebration of life and cookout will be held on Sunday, November 17, from 12-3 PM at Peplow Park in Robinson, TX. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and remember the smile and laughter James brought into all our lives.

James will be remembered for the love he shared, the laughter he spread, and the beauty he nurtured in every life he touched. His absence leaves a void that will never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
