Jack D. Alexander II, 75, of Waco, formerly of Shreveport, Louisiana, Clear Lake City, Texas, Orlando, Florida, and Katy, Texas, passed away on October 25 at home in the company of loved ones. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m., November 15, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be before the service at 10:30 a.m.
Jack was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. In his youth, he was a champion trap and skeet shooter. He obtained his Masters degree in physics from Louisiana Tech University, where he later taught physics. In 1964, Jack began a 20-year career with NASA, where he worked with the Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle programs.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack D. and Lalla T Alexander, of Shreveport.
Jack is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Shackelford Alexander of Waco; son Jack Alexander III, daughter-in-law Amy Vowell, and grandson Owen Brooker of Bozeman, Montana; son John Alexander, daughter-in-law Ruth Boardman-Alexander, and grandchildren Elizabeth and Evan Alexander of Waco; and daughter Jynjer Alexander Schultz, son-in-law Jim Schultz, and grandchildren Carson and Townes Schultz of Houston.
