Ida Kaelin

November 9, 1923 — January 9, 2018

Ida Louise (Walters) Kaelin of McGregor passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 2018, at the age of 94. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Jan 12, 2018, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, 8220 Woodway Dr. with Neil Walter officiating.

Mrs. Kaelin was born Nov. 9, 1923, in McGregor, Texas, the daughter of the late Charlie Wynn and Aileen (Oglesby) Walters. She was a 1941 graduate of McGregor High school. On May 11, 1944, she married Louis Carl Kaelin who preceded her in death Nov. 2, 1993.

For twenty-three years, Ida Louise was employed by the late Dr. John Thompson in McGregor as his assistant and secretary. In 1965, she and her husband purchased Riches Grocery Store in McGregor and renamed it Kaelin’s Grocery and Market until her retirement in 1986.

She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in McGregor.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers, William Franklin Walters, Joe Bob Walters and a sister Juanda McMullen.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Martin Kaelin, Michael Louis Kaelin; a sister Jean Mooney; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
