Homer E. Pace Jr., 84, of Waco, was called home to rest with his beloved Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 27, 2015. His last peaceful moments were spent surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Woodway. The funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Lorena United Methodist Church with pastor Jon Farrer officiating. A burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park with military honors.
Homer was born August 08, 1930 to Homer E. ( Buck) Pace, Sr. and Winnie Ferrell Pace. He graduated from Waco High School in 1949. He married and had two daughters. Homer served in the Army National Guard for 36 years and worked for L.L. Sam's Church Manufacturing for 41 years. He spent his entire career honoring the Lord with his beautiful hand carving and cabinet making abilities that can be found today in churches all over Texas. Homer served as a Deacon in the Baptist Church for most of his adult life. More recently he was a member of the Church at Tree Lake.
Homer was a servant of the Lord, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He lived an example of unwavering faith that was recognizable to anyone who met him. He loved to pray, cook, carve, watch the Texas Rangers play baseball, but most of all he loved spending time with and caring for his family. He is a part of every memory our family holds and he will be missed terribly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Nancy and her husband Cecil Garrett, Shirley and her husband John Riley, and brother in law, Mickey McGrath and his nephew, Sean McGrath.
Homer is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Sais and husband Diego, Sr., Melonie Teague and husband Greg,brother Bobby Pace of Waco; sister Gloria McGrath of New Jersey; Grandchildren Deanna Wade and husband Jason, Diego Sais, Jr. and wife Kristan, April Jewell and husband Steven, Lindsey Jones and fiancé Julian Meza. Great Grandchildren Shelby, Abby, Aubrey, Greg, Sophia, Brynlee and Jaxon, and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
Pallbearers include Greg Teague, Diego Sais Sr., Steven Jewell, Julian Meza, Bill Garrett Jr. , Diego Sais, Jr. and Michael Garrett
The family would like to express their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice and the wonderful staff at Regent Care of Woodway, who tenderly loved and cared for him.
