Henry “Hank" Appleton Halvorson, Jr., 81, of Hewitt passed away Tuesday, September 02, 2014 at home. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive.
Hank was born September 06, 1932 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Henry and Lillian Halvorson. He graduated from high school in Minneapolis, MN. Following high school Hank attended Hamline University and transferred to Louisiana Tech. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education in 1955. He married Betty on August 04, 1955 in San Carlos, California. Hank then earned a Masters in Education from Texas A&M University. While in Education and Aministration for over 37 years, Hank and his family lived in Center, TX, Jasper, TX, and Cotulla, TX. He enjoyed rock hounding and was a member of the Pine County Gem and Mineral Show. Hank also enjoyed fishing, gardening and sports.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 57 years, Betty, his parents and his grandson, Javan Halvorson.
Hank is survived by his children, Mark Halvorson and wife, Connie, of La Marque, TX, Michelle Halvorson of Denver, CO, and Scott Halvorson and wife, Charlotte, of Hewitt, TX; grandchildren, Lindsey Halvorson Crandall of Guam, Brandon Halvorson of Waco; and sibling, Harlan Halvorson, of Sandy, OR.
