Helen Ruth Wooten Pack Lassetter passed away peacefully on December 14, 2013 at the age of 85 with her family nearby. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Blackford officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive.
Helen was born October 8, 1928 in the Cedar Springs area to Thomas and Lola Wooten. She graduated from North Texas University with a degree in education. She started her teaching career teaching high school English in the rural area of Mount Calm. After a short time as a high school teacher she began teaching at Alta Vista Elementary in Waco teaching for a total of 36 years. She was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma and also belonged to McLennan County Retired Teachers Association and Cogdell United Methodist Church.
Helen loved traveling with family and friends across the US and Canada until her health no longer allowed her to travel. In her later years, one of her favorite pastimes was sitting on the back porch enjoying her garden or sitting at the lake house watching the skiers.
Helen married Oliver C. (Goober) Pack in 1950. They were married 32 years before he passed away in 1982. To their union was born Paula Gail Pack, the light of their life. Paula and her husband, Geoff Henningsen and Hillary their daughter survive Helen.
In 1997, Helen married George (G.B.) Lassetter. He survives her along with his children, Linda Worley and children, Todd, Tricia and Lacey; and his son, Don Lassetter, wife, Evelyn and children, Jeremy and Justin.
Helen is also survived by a beloved aunt, Estelle Wooten and niece, Sue Anderson of the China Spring area, along with many nieces and nephews by her first marriage to Goober Pack: Billie Carol Crawford Seely and family, John Pack and family of the Waco area, Charlotte Scarborough and family of Alabama, Joan Smith and family of the Arlington area, Judy Utley and family of the Houston area, Nancy Pack and family of the South Carolina area.
Pallbearers will be Geoff Henningsen, Mark Hill, Don Lassetter, John Pack Drew Seely, Justin Seely and Todd Worley.
