Harrol Lee Dixon, 78, of Waco, entered his eternal reward Thursday, August 8, 2024. To honor Harrol's life, a celebration will be at First Baptist Church, Woodway, on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 10:30 AM, followed by a visitation with the family.
Born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on August 29, 1945, Harrol's spiritual journey commenced in his early years in Detroit before flourishing within the Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton, California. Over the years, he continued his spiritual growth at First Baptist Woodway in Texas.
After serving his country with pride in the Air Force, Harrol pursued his academic endeavors, earning a Bachelor's degree from Cal Poly Pomona and a Master's degree from the University of La Verne – a testament to his commitment to education. For over three decades, he passionately imparted knowledge as an economics teacher at Buena Park High School in California.
On November 3, 1967, Harrol united in marriage with the love of his life, Marcia Davis, culminating in a beautiful partnership that stood the test of time. Together, they have built a family characterized by love, respect, and support, providing a strong foundation for their children and grandchildren.
As an active member of First Woodway, Harrol's presence was felt in numerous aspects of the church community. His involvement ranged from serving in the welcome center, supporting the food pantry, participating in mission trips, engaging with his life group and seniors' events, to offering his time to the wayward men's ministry. Furthermore, he was a dedicated member of the Gideons and contributed to their prison ministry, and the American Legion, enriching the lives of many through his service.
In his leisure time, Harrol found joy in travel — particularly enjoying cruises — and relished sports, with golf holding a special place in his heart. His life was a tapestry interwoven with faith, family, service, and passion for his pursuits.
Harrol was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Lafaro, and his parents, Jordan H. and Mary L. Dixon. He leaves behind a profound legacy that will be carried forth by his cherished wife, Marcia Dixon; his children, Brian Dixon with wife Christine, Scott Dixon with wife Latisha; grandchildren, Erica Zapf and husband Aaron, Will Dixon and wife Rylee, Jacob Dixon and wife Skylar, Anna Grace Dixon, Evren Lopez, Devante Lopez, Connor Dixon, Logan Dixon; great grandchildren, Everleigh, Soren, Beckham, and one on the way.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to First Woodway Senior Adult Benevolence or the First Woodway Food Pantry, as well as to the Gideons organization, contributing to causes close to Harrol's heart.
As we prepare to bid farewell and pay tribute to the lasting impact of a remarkable individual, Harrol Dixon's memory will continue to live
