With tremendous love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Grayson Shane Burns, beloved son of Alyssa and Shane Burns. Born on August 21, 2024, at 7:29 p.m., Grayson entered the world, exceeding all dreams of how perfect he could be, weighing a mighty 4 pounds, 11 ounces, and measuring 18.5 inches long.
In the months leading up to his arrival, anticipation grew among all who know and love his parents. Friends and family gathered from near and far to celebrate and help prepare for his debut—a testament to the love that surrounded his life from the very beginning. Even before his first breath, Grayson’s existence united those around him, reminding us all of life’s preciousness and the transformative power of love.
Though his time on earth was painfully brief, it was filled with immeasurable love, warmth, and care. Grayson found joy in hearing his parents' voices, gazing at all kinds of lights, and being held close by those who were absolutely enamored by his existence. He cherished the gentle lullabies sung by his MeMe, adventures in the car, and the peace of his paci. While he was tiny and growing, his spirit was larger than life, leaving a profound impact on everyone he met. In his first days in the hospital, nurses and family members alike marveled at his remarkable resilience, swooned over his gentle spirit, and were in love with his sweet curls that would soon soften into straight blonde hair.
Held close and surrounded by his parents, Grayson knew only comfort and unconditional love until his final earthly breath. Alyssa and Shane's unwavering devotion to their son will continue to transform their grief into a legacy of hope, ensuring that Grayson’s life is fully honored through their commitment to one another and to building a life worthy to have been a part of his.
Now resting in the arms of Jesus, Grayson lives on in perfect peace, leaving behind a light to guide his family with strength and motivation. Alyssa, Shane, and their loved ones feel deeply blessed to have known Grayson for every second of his two months of life.
Grayson is survived by his parents, Alyssa and Shane Burns; paternal grandmother Elisa “Meme” Burns and grandfather Roger “PawPaw” Burns of Axtell; maternal grandmother Kellie “Keke” Juandiego and grandfather Faustino “G-Pa” Juandiego Jr. of Riesel; grandfather Roy Rice Jr. of Waco; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins who celebrated his life and will hold his memory dear.
Grayson’s pallbearers will be his uncles—Russell “Rusty” Butler, Jared Butler, Jerry Rice, Faustino Juandiego III, and Zacarias Juandiego. These strong men now have the tender honor of carrying their beloved nephew, standing together as pillars of love and strength for their brother and sister. In this moment, they are united by Grayson’s beautiful spirit and bound by a renewed family bond that only he could provide in life and beyond.
Minister Brandon Cope, who has long been dear to Alyssa’s family, will lead Grayson’s service as his presence brings peace and comfort in such a time as this. The family is grateful for his continued support and his role in honoring Grayson's life.
We ask that you keep Grayson’s memory alive by calling him by name, bringing him up in the days and months that lie ahead, and cherishing those around you.
