Grady Lafayette Blanks

Grady Lafayette Blanks, 79, of Hewitt passed away, Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.  As per his request, there will be no services.

Grady was born August 23, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to Joseph and Jane Blanks. He was the oldest of three children.  He grew up in the Houston area and was a graduate of Lamar High School. He completed Jr. College while in Houston.  He worked with Asbestos, which later became insulating.  He had several businesses that he owned as well.

In 1962, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Thornton, while working at Mandel-Kahn’s.  The couple enjoyed 61 years together and had two daughters.

Grady loved being in the country, as well as hunting and collecting guns.  He loved motorcycles and working on them.  He was an avid traveler, at one point, he and his wife were full time RVers, visiting most of the United States, and returning to their favorite spots.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Dorothy; daughters, Kimberly Perry and husband, Craig, Kathy Clafferty and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Danielle and Jessi Perry, Jacob and McKenzie Clafferty; great granddaughter, Elena; sisters, Sara Ritter, Margaret Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Buddy.
