Glen Eldon Davis, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 21, 2013 surrounded by his family. A private memorial service will be held 10 am Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Waco, TX.
Glen was born February 12, 1929 in Longdale, Oklahoma to Leslie Albert (L.A.) and Faye Sickles Davis, the youngest of three sons. Glen grew up living the life of a country boy and enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses, swimming in the tank with cousins and friends and caring for animals. His love for animals continued his whole life and he always had a dog as a companion.
Glen enlisted in the Army Air Force at the age of 17. After leaving the service, he married Edna Louetta Koen on July 12, 1949 at Canadian, Texas and they had four sons and two daughters. Glen worked as a lineman for the Southwestern Public Service on the construction crew based in Amarillo, moving his family around the Panhandle of Texas as well as New Mexico. He worked for the Plainview Co-op Compress for 35 years. After his retirement in 1990, he returned to Oklahoma for a few years and then to Waco to be near his daughters. He was a man of ethics and integrity who worked long hours to provide for his family whom he loved deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Dale Davis and Neal Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edna; daughters, Brenda Davis and Glenda Ramsower and husband, Reagan both of Woodway; sons, Col. Jack Davis and wife, Sherry of Milton, Florida, Gary Davis and wife, Carrie of Trophy Club, John Davis and wife, Jody of Copper Canyon, Tommy Lee Davis and wife, Astrid of Clarksville, TN; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; special in-laws, Bob and Berdena Koen and Robert and Carolyn Hurt; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
