September 26, 1942 — November 14, 2012

Ginger Simpson age 70, of Marlin, Texas passed away on Wednesday November 14, 2012 with her family by her side. Memorial Services will be 10AM Saturday November 24, 2012 at Miller Chapel on the Baylor University Campus Waco, Texas with Rev. Sharon Nordmeyer Key officiating.

Ginger was born on September 26, 1942 in McAllen, Texas. She was the daughter of Aurelia and P.S. “Brownie” Brown. She was a cheerleader at McAllen High School, graduating in 1960. She attended Baylor University and married her life-long sweetheart, Billy Wayne Simpson. In their marriage of fifty years they operated Brownies Butane and Propane in McAllen, and later transitioned their business focus exclusively to cattle ranching. In 2001, they moved the ranch to Central Texas to be close to their three married children and grandchildren. Seven years ago, Ginger bravely fought and conquered pancreatic cancer and went on to enjoy many more memory filled years. She maintained an active lifestyle helping run the family ranching business, and attending school and sporting events for each of her grandchildren. She was an inspiration to everyone, and was devoted to her husband, family, friends and the animals that she rescued, nurtured and spoiled. Ginger will be remembered for her faith in Christ, strength, courage, generosity, patriotism, love of nature, passion for cooking and her grace-filled smile.

Ginger is survived by her husband Billy Simpson; her sisters Dorothy Friedlander, Janet Cowart and husband Billy Frank, Geraldean Fritts, and brother Spud Brown; daughter Kim Nopper and husband Andy; son James and wife Amy; son John and wife Shawn; grandchildren Caitlin, Connor, Will, Kendall, Allyson, Lainie, and Benjamin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
