George E. Wetzel, Sr., 87, of Golinda passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at a local nursing home in Waco.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 30th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Waco, TX at 11:00 a.m.; followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM at The Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX., Pastor Robert Nelson of Christian Life Church officiating.
He served as Private First Class in the United States Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946 where he received an honorable discharge. He then worked and retired from Renschlers of Waco after 25 years of service. He would work from sun up to sun down as a stubborn, hard working, but dedicated farmer that never believed in owning an air conditioner. He lived a full and wonderful life and was an honest man that loved to make others laugh. We love you dad and will always miss you!!!
Survivors include his two sons; George E. Wetzel, Jr. of Waco and Jason E. Wetzel of Groesbeck; their mother, Carolyn L. Clemens of Bellmead; 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Thursday June 30, 2011 , 2:00 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery
