George B. Lassetter, 92, of Waco, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 30th at Rosemound Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening the 29th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive.
George was born May 24, 1922 in Ross to James Thomas Hill Lassetter and Ethel Elizabeth Brink Lassetter. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. In 1959, George was the first to ever graduate from Baylor Night School having received his Master's Degree after 10 years of attending Baylor. He was past President and a Board Member of the Rosemound Cemetery Association. George was employed with the Veterans Administration for many years as Chief of Loan Guaranty.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jocelyn Laverne May Lassetter; his second wife, Helen Pack Lassetter; his sister, Corren Young; two brothers, Jimmy Lassetter and Garner Lassetter; and son-in-law, Bill Worley.
George is survived by his son; Don L. Lassetter and wife, Evelyn of Midland; daughter, Linda Kay Worley of Fairview; grandchildren, Todd Worley and wife, Trisha of Austin, Lacy Worley of McKinney, Jeremy Lassetter of Summerville, MA and Justin Lassetter of Midland; step daughter, Paula Henningsen and husband, Geoff; great grandchild, Tatum Worley of Austin; great step grandchild, Hillary Henningsen; and sisters, Helen Feind, Elizabeth Tuggle, Wanda Behnke and Nancy Wilson.
