Gary Ainsworth

October 4, 1945 — October 28, 2022

Bruceville, Texas

On Friday, October 28th, Joe “Gary” Ainsworth passed away. He had just celebrated his 77th birthday earlier this month. Born to Jack and LaVerne Ainswoth on October 4th, 1945 in Marlin, Texas.  Gary graduated from Barbers Hill High School, Baytown, Texas in 1964 where he played multiple sports and was an avid athlete. As he was growing up, he had a love for ranching and spent his summers (all that his parents would allow) at Kosse with his grandparents on their ranches. He later attended Lee College and a brief stint at Texas A&M University. He retired from the Bruceville Eddy Water Dept and spent the majority of his later years driving a truck and enjoying his love for ranching!

Gary was best known for his love for family, sports, ranching, Team Roping (rodeo), hunting, country & western dancing, and living his life to the fullest and on his own terms.  He had a generous spirit and would give his time to anyone that was in need. He was an active member of the Bruceville Eddy Volunteer Fire Department for many years, a Little League Umpire, Active Member of the Bruceville Eddy Sports Booster Club, along with a 32nd Degree Mason in the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and LaVerne Ainsworth and his brother Andy Ainsworth. He is survived by his children, Heath Ainsworth, Heather Ainsworth Baker and husband Clint and, Cody Ainsworth, siblings Kathryn Cunningham and husband, Michael and Terry Ainsworth and wife, Rachelle along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to his long-term companion and caregiver Gean Harless.
