Fredda Patrick Coone, 84, of Waco, lovingly known as “Mee Maw” and later shortened to “Meem,” passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2010. A Memorial service to celebrate the life of Fredda Coone will be 11:30 Monday, Dec. 27, at Providence Park Chapel, 300 W. Hwy. 6.
Fredda was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Bellmead, to Levi and Violet Patrick. She graduated from LaVega High School in 1944, and attended Baylor University until her marriage to Malcolm Coone, Aug. 26, 1946. Malcolm and Fredda enjoyed a loving marriage for 64 years. They traveled to many countries, raised three children, and enjoyed watching their three grandchildren graduate from college and begin their adult lives. Fredda and Malcolm moved frequently in their early married years as Malcolm was in the oil business. She always made friends easily and made sure the family was active in Church. Fredda worked for the state department when they were in Austin, for the federal government when they lived in Oklahoma City, and for the Baptist Book Store in Houston. She also worked as a treasurer for her dear friend, Eleanor Tinsley, Houston City councilwoman.
She is survived by her husband, Malcolm; two daughters, Connie Clark and husband, Rusty, Martha LaGrone and husband, Ben; a son, Gary Coone; three grandchildren, Jeremy Clark and wife, Kristi, Amanda LaGrone and Cameron LaGrone; and two great-grandchildren, Caden and Callie Clark.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association of Waco, 6605 Sanger Ave #1, Waco, Texas, 76710.
The family would like thank the staff at Wesley Woods for their tender care of Fredda this past year. We would also like to thank Providence Hospice for their special care and assistance during the last month of Fredda’s life.
