Fred Tomchesson, age 86 of Woodway, TX, passed away on the tenth of January 2018 at his home. Visitation will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, January 12th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 13th at St. Mary's Mausoleum at 11:00 a.m. in Bremond, TX.
Fred was born on January 15th, 1931 in Bremond, TX to Joe and Mary Tomczeszyn He was a graduate of Bremond High School, and moved to Waco, TX in May of 1950, where he has resided for the past sixty-seven years. On September 22nd, 1951, he married Mary Frances Pruitt of Bremond at St. Mary's Rectory in Waco, TX. He worked for Holsom and Mrs. Baird's Bakery from 1946 until 1960. He then operated the snack bar at Lake Air Lanes from 1960 until 1965. In 1965, he joined Piccadilly Cafeteria as an assistant manager in Lake Air Mall. In June of 1980, he opened and managed Piccadilly Cafeteria in Richland Mall. At the time of his retirement in January of 1986, he was managing the most profitable Piccadilly in the country. In the mid 1950s, he joined and flew in the Civil Air Patrol. He was an avid sports fan, a skilled bowler and then became a talented golfer where he recorded five hole-in-ones. In the late 50s, he became a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary; two sisters, Elizabeth Barnes and Cecilia Nowak; his daughter, Gale Heubach; and son in-law, Mitch Connell.
Fred is survived by his wife, Mary Frances (Pat) of Woodway, TX, daughter, Susan and husband Mike Wardlaw of Waco, son, Troy and wife Jenni Tomchesson of San Antonio, son in-law, Gary Heubach of Hopewell, NJ; grandchildren, Stacy and husband Stephen Cook of Waco, TX, Michelle and husband Joe Wilson of Waco, TX, Michael and wife Jennifer O'Sullivan of Houston, TX, Sean and wife Tiffany O'Sullivan of San Antonio, TX, Megan Haynes of Tampa, FL, Joseph and wife Savannah Tomchesson of Houston, TX; great- grandchildren Ryan and Reagan Cook of Waco, TX, Brandon, Travis and Abigale Wilson of Waco, TX, Jaxon O'Sullivan of Houston, TX, Liam and Rowan O'Sullivan of San Antonio, TX, Krystina and Keegan Haynes of Tampa, FL; sisters, Mildred Nowak and husband Fred, Beatrice Bielamowiez and husband Richard and a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Cook, Joe Wilson, Michael O'Sullivan, Sean O'Sullivan, Joseph Tomchesson, Ryan Cook, Brandon Wilson and Travis Wilson.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Providence Hospice, Jan Sheffield and Laura Dansforth, for their unending compassionate care. Memorials can be made to The American Heart Association, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Providence Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
