Franklin Gene Kuehl

Franklin Gene “Boogie” Kuehl, of Lorena, loving Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, entered heaven on January 28, 2022 surrounded by his children. Services will be 11 am, Wednesday, February 2nd at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Reverend Christie Robbins officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 1st at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Gene was born August 6, 1938 in Mt. Calm, Texas. He was a naval aviation mechanic prior to his life long employment as an electrician at Owens-Illinois Glass Plant for 52 ½ years.  Gene’s life centered around his family, church and the many friends who were lucky enough to know him. Gene was married to Carlene Williams and had three daughters, Dyana, Gena, & Carla.  He then married Sherry Lowrie Austin on February 21, 1981. In his marriage to Sherry he was gifted with three more daughters, Michele, Melony & Shannon. Out of that marriage they were again blessed with a son, Matthew. His favorite things in life were doing anything outside, woodworking and most importantly enjoying and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Lowrie Kuehl.

Survivors include his children Michele Austin of Nicholasville, KY; Dyana and Eddie Baker of Woodway; Gena and Rusty Hunter of McGregor; Carla and Ken Sykora of West, Melony and Gary Durham of Lorena; Shannon and Zach Sanders of Lorena, Matthew and Amy Kuehl of Troy; Grandchildren Austin White, Lindsay McCuddy, Erika Kerl & fiancé Tate Mason, Samantha & Michael Penney, David Baker, Chelsea & Matt Hambrick, Cameron & Brianna Hunter, Kyler & Lexi Sykora, Sterling & Genevieve Sykora, Avery Sykora, Grant Sykora, Brent & Alexis Durham, Cody Durham, Hayden Durham, MaKalynn Sanders, Ava Sanders, Landon Kuehl and Audrey Kuehl.  Great grandchildren Cahnnon Hambrick, Hunter Lynne Hunter, Ledger Durham, Hayes Hambrick, Calvin Sykora, Jonah Sykora and Kenleigh Sykora.

Pallbearers are his grandsons, Cameron Hunter, Kyler Sykora, David Baker, Brent Durham, Austin White, Sterling Sykora, Cody Durham, Hayden Durham, Grant Sykora, Landon Kuehl.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lorena United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 86, Lorena, TX, 76655.
