Frank Pryor, Jr., age 83, passed away at Waco Veterans Hospital, October 3, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 24, 1925, in Billington, Texas, to the late Frank and CoIla LeFevers Pryor. He attended Mt. Calm schools. Frank served in the U. S. Army Anti-Tank Company during WWII, in the Rhineland Central Europe Campaign. On January 16, 1946, he was united in marriage to Johnnie Moore.
Shortly after the Texas City Disaster, Frank moved to Texas City and worked at Texas City Refinery and Monsanto Chemicals. At Monsanto he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. Plant workers affectionately called him Tonto or the Waco Kid. His hobbies included art, watching sports, and jogging. After retiring, Frank moved to Waco.
As a member of First Baptist Church in Texas City he taught five year olds in Sunday School. In Waco he was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church.
Frank is survived by his wife, Johnnie; his son and wife, Dan and Nancy Pryor; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Charles Bludworth. Additionally, he was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Amanda and Emily Bludworth as well as Tyler and Kate Pryor.
He is survived by three sisters and a brother; Billie Roberts, Ima Delle Johansen, Mae Granger and Riley Pryor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Bob Pryor; brother, H. A. Pryor; and sister, Bea Teakell.
