Felix Ramirez, Jr

July 20, 1936 — February 27, 2009

Felix Ramirez, Jr. has gone into his next life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He passed quietly on February 27, 2009 with his daughter, Angela Ramirez Lawler and companion, Janie Portillo by his side. Felix was born on July 20th, 1936 in Laredo, Texas. He was 72. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 5-8:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2009. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Monday, March 2, 2009at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Felix has requested that his body be cremated and his remains taken back to Wisconsin for interment.

After high school, Felix served in the Marines. In the 1960’s, he moved to Waukesha, WI where he met and married Maria Irene Martinez, to which three children were born; Felix III, Anthony and Angela. For the last 20 years, Felix resided in Waco, Texas with his companion, Janie Portillo. Felix worked the majority of his life in Kenosha, WI at American Motors as a production line worker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Irene Martinez Ramirez, who passed in January 2002; his parents, Felix Sr and Petra Ramirez; his brother, Armando Ramirez and his companions two sons, Deyon and John David, his buddy.

Felix is survived by his children, Felix Ramirez III and wife Ruthy Christy, Anthony Ramirez, and Angela Ramirez Lawler and husband Nathan, all of Kenosha, WI; his companion, Janie Portillo of Waco, TX and her grandchildren and her two daughters, Diane Barrera and husband Nick and Lupe Portillo and husband Juan Hernandez; a brother, Joe Ramirez and wife Gwen of Weslaco; his sister-in-law, Pauly Ramirez of Laredo, TX; a brother-in-law, David Martinez of Waco, TX; his beloved grandchildren, Elishia, Ethan and Ella Lawler and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Felix Ramirez, Jr. was recently battling an illness which caused organ failure. Through it all, he kept perspective about his life and those he loved. He accepted the inevitable and was happy to know that he would soon be with his parents, brother and other loved ones.

Although he went through hard times, his love for his family never wavered. To the end, Felix was still laughing and joking around, which was the greatest thing about his personality. He had a great sense of humor.
