Eva Sanders

Eva Sanders went to be with our Lord on July 3, 2012, at her home in Waco, TX. A memorial service will be held on Friday July 6, 2012, at 4:00 pm, at Beverly Hills Baptist Church, 4112 Memorial Drive, Waco, TX, 76711.

Eva was born in Gatesville, TX, on February 27, 1924. She later moved to Waco where she met and eventually married Vernon Sanders. On March 9, 1951, she gave birth to Carolyn Ann. On February 27, 1960, she gave birth to Alice Marie. During her lifetime she worked as an Avon representative and for the Waco ISD Food Service Department. In her later years she helped Vernon with a lawn service, tending his cattle and accompanying him to Baylor Basketball games. She loved working in her yard and attending Beverly Hills Baptist Church, where she was a member since 1955. She was blessed to be able to do both until the end.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Koether and Minnie Nitchke Koether; sisters, Delta Merchant, Dorothy Schafer, Evelyn Horne and her loving husband of 63 years, Vernon Clayton.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carolyn Hammons of Woodlawn, TN, and Alice and husband Marcos Martinez of Garland, TX; grandchildren, Thomas Lee Hammons and wife Arianne, John Hammons and wife Jennifer, Christy Miller and husband Richard, Nicholas Martinez and Alannah Martinez; greatgrandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Jacob and Nathan; one sister, Margaret Truelove of Gatesville, TX; and also numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and her gentle nature.
