Eugene Marlon Minton, Jr., 85, of Waco, passed away on Thursday September 13, 2012 at his home, with his family by his side. A graveside service will be held at Antioch Cemetery in San Augustine on Sunday September 16, 2012 at 2:30pm with Mark Legendere of North Main Church of Christ, Vidor, Texas officiating. Visitation will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home on 5 to 7pm Saturday September 15, 2012 .
Marlon was born on March 26, 1927, in San Augustine, Texas. He attended San Augustine High School, served in the United States Army, and completed two degrees at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. He retired from Little Cypress-Mauriceville ISD after serving the community of Mauriceville as an elementary and junior high principal for 32 years.
Marlon is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Brownie Jo Campbell Minton of Waco, brother and wife, Wayne and Helen Minton of Port Neches, children Stephen and wife Patti Minton of Los Angeles, Madelon and husband Dale McCall of Waco, Craig and wife Dawn Minton of Votaw, Sebrennah and husband Stuart Tillman of Tomball, grandchildren Joshua and wife Marissa Minton, Kristopher Minton, Tyler and wife Stephanie McCall, Anna and husband Lars Anderson, Heather and husband Jeff Lawson, Jason and wife Jennifer Minton, Chase Burnett, Travis Tillman, Grant Tillman, and Lee Tillman, and great-grandchildren Chance Minton, Cole Minton, Maggie McCall and Avery McCall.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Marlon and Mary Minton and father in-law and mother in-law Elmo and Mary Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crestview Church of Christ community care fund.
The family also wishes to thank the nurses and caretakers of Providence Hospice.
Since there is not a map to the Antioch Cemetery the best direction to the graveside service for Eugene Minton would be to head north of San Agustine , Texas to Hwy 147. Cemetery is 5 miles from San Agustine
