Ernest Louis Phelps left this earth Tuesday, February 23, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. After a brave fight with cancer, his family is so proud of how he fought this disease.
The Recitation of the Rosary by his grandson Jeremy Wilkey and Father Benji, will be at 6:30 P.M and family visitation following Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr. A graveside service and interment will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Oakwood Cemetery with Father Benji officiating.
Mr. Phelps was born December 29, 1942, in Waco, Texas, the son of the late Ernest James and Dorothy (Veselka) Phelps where he attended Connally High School. On October 12, 1965, he married Linda Meier in Waco. The lifelong Wacoan loved having a good time with his family and friends. Worked from age 18 to retirement with Gulf States Paper Company.
Waiting for him in heaven, are his parents and sister Shirley Hamrick. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Linda Phelps; a son Ernest Phelps; Three daughters, Lindy Brooks, Peggy Wilkey and husband Jerry, Jenny Phelps; four grandchildren, A.J. and wife Brittani, Scott, Amber and husband Landon, Jeremy; four great grandchildren, Sydney, Brady, Titus and Kate. Two sisters Jean Putman, Barbara and Eddie Ehlers and nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to TX Oncologist, their doctors and nurses, for supporting our dad through his illness.
