Elta Marie Boggess

September 8, 1936 — March 13, 2025

Woodway, Texas

Elta Marie Boggess went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, March 13th, in Waco, TX after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A celebration of her life will be Wednesday, March 19th, at 2:00 PM at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the celebration of life at 1:00 PM.

Marie was born September 8, 1936, in Goldthwaite, TX to Lloyd and Alta Cline Reynolds. She grew up with eight brothers and a sister in a family where they learned the true meaning of love. In fact, they always remained close to one another.

Marie graduated from Goldthwaite High School in 1955, where she played basketball. The team made it to State, and that set up her next adventure. She was recruited by the “All American Redheads” women’s exhibition basketball team. She loved to tell stories of visiting every state west of the Mississippi and seeing all the places of interest. After a year of travelling, she returned home to Goldthwaite.

Next, Marie became a telephone operator and moved to Ballinger, TX. There she met the love of her life, C. B. Boggess. They married July 26, 1958, at the First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite. After making their home in Thibodaux, LA they welcomed their daughter Alice. C. B.’s job then took their family to Arlington, TX where they welcomed their son James.

Marie was a talented seamstress. She not only sewed clothes for her children but also sewed for the public, making anything from drapes to wedding dresses.

In 1972, Marie got her real estate license and joined her best friend at Ramsey Realty Gallery of Homes. She was a member of the Arlington Board of Realtors, The Texas Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. She also served on several local boards and committees. Marie’s real estate career spanned over 40 years. She retired from Ebby Holiday Realtors in 2016, before moving to Waco in 2017. She did not consider real estate a job. It was more of a hobby and many of her clients became lifelong friends.

As a child, Marie accepted Christ as her personal savior at First Baptist Church of Goldthwaite. Later, she was a long-time member of Tate Springs Baptist Church in Arlington.

One of Marie’s greatest joys in life was being a grandmother. You could often find her watching her grandchildren playing soccer, baseball, basketball, dancing, cheering, and any other extracurricular activities they participated in. She had the ability to make each of them feel that she was their biggest fan.

Marie leaves behind her husband of 66 years, C. B. Boggess; daughter Alice Koeritz and husband Ken of Waco; son James Boggess of Waco; brother Jackie Reynolds and wife Linda of Abilene; grandchildren Blake Koeritz and wife Jessica of Waco, Nicole Cook and husband Shane of Arlington, Courtney Miller and husband Zack of Waco, Caitlin McMullen and husband Mark of Dallas, Kameryn Martin and husband Logan of Boerne; great grandchildren Carson Miller, Colton Koeritz, Stella Cait Miller, Colby Koeritz, Konnor Cook, Fletcher, Mavis, and Murphy McMullen. Further, she leaves behind many special nieces and nephews.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Keegan Uranga; brothers, Walter Cline Reynolds, Burrell Reynolds, Melvin Reynolds, Harold Reynolds, Noel Reynolds, Charles Reynolds, Earl Wayne Reynolds, and sister, Leatha Farrington.

The family would like to thank her special caregivers from Living Springs and Residency at Ridgewood who loved and cared for her so well. Thanks also to Bluebonnet Hospice who helped make her comfortable and ministered to the family during her last days. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org or a charity of your choice.
