Edris Earl Murry, 87, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Visitation will be from 5-7 and held on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. The funeral service will beat 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Edris was born on August 8, 1929 in Magnolia, AR to David Earl and Med Gimlin, the second daughter of four children. Raised in Hooks, Texas until the age of 10 when the family moved to Texarkana, Texas where she graduated high school. She met the love of her life, Harold Murry, at the Texarkana Gazette. They married September 4, 1948 and remained husband and wife until November 3, 1990 when Harold died. Mother to three children, John, Janet and Jeff, she raised their family in Texarkana, Texas and then Waco, Texas, where they moved in 1965. Harold worked for the Dallas Morning News while Edie (as she was lovingly called) managed the business office for Dr. Tom Husbands. After the doctor retired, she went to work at Columbus Avenue Day Care Center where she lovingly cared for ‘her babies’ until well into her seventies. She was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist church for more than 30 years. She enjoyed camping trips with her family , gardening, sewing, and playing 42. Affectionately known as Mimi, she was devoted to her six grandsons, Brian, Nick ,Chris, Justin, Jared and Jonathan.
Preceded in death by; her husband, Harold, her son; John , her granddaughter; Stephanie.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter; Janet Enriquez, son; Jeff and his wife Cynthia Murry, daughter in law; Tootie Murry, six grandsons, three great granddaughters, a great grandson; brother; Jimmy and his wife Betty Gimlin, brother in law; Nelson Tyl and a host of nephews, nieces and friends who loved her dearly.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Brian Enriquez, Nick Enriquez, Jonathan Murry, Justin Murry, Jared Murry and Steve Graham.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Regent Care Center and Kindred Hospice for their loving care to their mom.
Memorials in Edie’s memory can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church of Waco, Texas.
