Edna Blackshear

Edna E. Blackshear age 82, of Waco passed away Monday, May 30, 2011. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday June 1, 2011 at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Edna was born December 31, 1928 in Camden, New Jersey to Raymond and Elizabeth Rock. She was a member of Primrose Dr. Baptist Church. She had been a member for over 30 years of Highland Baptist Church. She married Pete Blackshear in 1946 and they raised three boys. She worked at the Book Nook at Lake Air Mall for 18 years. She retired from the McLennan County Court House as a clerk after 18 years. Edna’s greatest joys were being a wife, mother and serving the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband Pete of 27 years in 1973, her mother Elizabeth Zeletes and father Raymond Rock.

She is survived by three sons Wayne Blackshear and his wife Pat, Charles Blackshear and Gizmo and Richard Blackshear and his wife Kim; a sister Charlotte Newman and her husband Ed; a brother Wales Zeletes; five grandchildren Brian Faglie, Laura Warren, Nathan Blackshear, Bonny Hurtick and Beau Blackshear; ten great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Primrose Dr. Baptist Church or Wesley Woods Alzheimer’s Care Center.
