Durward Benson Sr

Durward "Buddy" Benson Sr., 77, of Waco, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rosemound Cemetery.. A visitation with the family will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Durward "Buddy" Benson Sr. was born on May 16, 1939 to Durwood and Velma Benson in Waco, Texas. He joined the Air Force and soon married Wanda Joyce Spencer in 1959 who was the mother of his five children. In 1978 , he married Wanda Lou Flick. He retired in 1996 from Owens Illinois Glass Plant. He was an avid lover of The Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, and the Baylor Bears. He also enjoyed his time dancing and listening to country music. He loved spending time with his grand babies and his beloved dog "Little Man" who was always by his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son; Kenneth Raymond Benson, his brother; Jesse Ray Benson, sister; Hellen Hewitt and a step daughter; Mollie Crelia.

He is survived by his wife; Wanda Lou Benson of Waco, his sons; Durward Wayne Benson Jr. of Waco, TX, Curtis James Benson and wife Denise of Hobbs, New Mexico, his daughters; Melany Seman and husband, Edward of Danbury, TX , Connie Holder and husband Bobby of Waco, TX, step daughter; Jackie Coryell and husband John of Cross Plains, TN, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and five step grandchildren.
