Douglas Dean Waters Sr., 80, of Waco, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Mackie Bounds and Malcolm Kniffen officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Doug was born July 27, 1936 to Clarence and Vera Waters in Honey Grove. He married Mary Anita Pomroy on March 23, 1957, in Paris, Tx. Soon after, they moved and began their life in the Waco area. Doug and Anita celebrated 59 years of marriage this year. He was a member of the Lorena Church of Christ.

Doug was a lifelong entrepreneur and owned many successful businesses. In the 60's and 70's, he owned and operated Doug's T.V. and Appliances on 25th St. Doug also owned and operated Doug's Drive Inn & Doug's Auto Sales for 25 years in Speegleville, retiring in 1995.

He enjoyed his cows and tending to his farm. He was always ready to get in the car and "Go"! In his younger years, Doug was a avid bowler and loved to play golf and softball, always being known for his hard left handed pitch. The joys in his life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he loved them all so much.


He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bill Waters & Johnny Waters.

Doug is survived by his wife, Anita Waters; sister, Martha Craven and husband, Richard; children, Doug Waters Jr., Tamera Sinkule and husband, Tim, and Tina Kelley and husband, Les; grandchildren, Ryan Sinkule, Chad Sinkule and wife, Sadie, Casey Johnson and husband, Eric, Heather Kelley, Cody Kelley, Dena McMullen and husband, Brandon, and Carly Waters; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Austin Johnson, and Carson and Tori Waters, his eyes always brighten up and arms fell open when his babies were near.

Pallbearers will be Cody Kelley, Ryan Sinkule, Chad Sinkule, Eric Johnson, Brandon McMullen, John Golden, Jason Watts, Steve Lane, Kyle Waters.
