Dorthea Hollier, age 90, of Waco, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Providence Hospice of St. Catherine’s Center. Visitation and Celebration with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 16, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Dot was born June 30, 1926 in Waco, the daughter of James and Edith (Clymer) Allison. She attended Waco schools and worked various jobs, including many years at Thrifty Nickel and her last position at Central Prosthetics.
She was known for her acerbic sense of humor and her love of travel, especially to Greece. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines vocal organization and made many friends there.
Dot was preceded in death by her four siblings, Cue, Nina, Arlene and James. She is survived by her three children, Suzanne Dokolas of Athens, Greece; Allison Hollier of Burleson and Philip Evans of Waco; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Catherine’s Center and Providence Hospice for their thoughtful and gentle care of Dot. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or a favorite charity of choice.
