Loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, nana, aunt, and friend, Dorothy (Dee) Evelyn Chaytor Lancaster passed away on March 2nd, 2022 while bravely battling cancer at 77. She was born September 5th, 1944, in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland, Canada to Roy and Margaret Chaytor. She is survived by husband Bob Lancaster of 58 years, daughter Renee Lynne Lancaster Martin, and son Christopher Stephen Sturdy. She was the oldest of six children and leaves behind her sisters and brother, Margaret (Peggy) Chaytor Williams, Ann Chaytor Crotty, and Tony Chaytor. She is preceded in death by brothers Paul Chaytor and Peter Chaytor. She leaves behind four loving grandchildren Neil Lancaster Martin, Danielle Rae Martin, Myles Sturdy, and Ryan Sturdy. She also leaves behind many caring nieces and nephews Lloyd Milton Williams III, Alexander Dion Williams, Stephanie Wold, Courtney Wold French, Barry Chaytor, Penny Whitten, Collin Chaytor, Adele Palmer, and Sheena Wheeler. All of whom she loved and cherished dearly.
Dee spent most of her career as a hair stylist and was a talented artist both on canvas and in the home. Her paintings hang in many of her family and friends' homes. While living in Scotland she was actively involved in the Petroleum Wives Club for several years. She was happiest with a paint brush in her hands and spending time planting in her gardens, creating beautiful landscapes.
Her life started in Newfoundland, Canada and led her to Groesbeck, Texas where she and Bob retired. Along the way there were many stops and travels taking them to Scotland, Germany, and Alabama. When asked by her daughter what her favorite memory was she replied, “All of Them.”
She was a very giving, caring, and thoughtful person who was always doing something for others. Throughout the years she touched the hearts of others and has left behind countless cherished memories.
In Lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Providence Hospice, The American Cancer Society, or the ESPCA.
