On January 25, 2016, Dorothy Alice Busby Smith of McGregor, passed peacefully from this life. A graveside service will be held on January 28, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas. The service will be at 10:30 AM with Rev. Chris Farrow officiating and there will be no visitation.
Dorothy was born on June 3, 1925 in West, Texas to Frank and Alice Thomas Busby. She graduated from West High School and went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Waco. On October 13, 1945 she married Howard Perry Smith in Waco, Texas. This would mark the beginning of 67 years of love and laughter.
Dorothy was a charter member of Crestview Church of Christ in Woodway, Texas. She was a devout Christian and a committed and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking and studying God's word.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Alice Thomas Busby. Her husband, Howard Perry Smith. Brother, Frank Busby Jr. Three sisters, Inez Morgan, Polly Porter, and Mary Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Diana Smith of McGregor. Sons, David Perry Smith and wife Debi of McGregor and Randy Howard Smith of Waco. Grandchildren, James Howard Crenshaw and wife Jessica, Lani Rust and husband Mac, Meredith Cockrell and husband Clint, Ryan Howard Smith and wife Margaret, Morgan Smith, Lexi Smith and Rainy Smith. Great Grandchildren, Madison Perri Rust, Halle Rust, Boe Crenshaw, Abi Crenshaw, Khloe Smith and Cole Thomas Cockrell. And several loving nieces.
The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the staff at Westview Manor Nursing Home in McGregor and to Providence Hospice.
