Dorothy Fleischhauer passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at a local hospital in Waco. Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 17 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Dyer officiating. The family will receive visitors at Grace Gardens from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Dorothy was born to Fanando and Lela King in Stephenville, TX. Her father was a railroad engineer and she moved around the central Texas area, living at various times in Stephenville, Waco, Gatesville, and Corsicana. She graduated from high school in Corsicana, and from North Texas State Univesity. She married Henry Louis Fleischhauer in Waco on November 9, 1947.
She worked for a time at Bird-Kultgen Ford prior to becoming a mother. She lived in Fort Worth, New Orleans, and Austin and recently returned to Waco with her husband to be near family. After moving to Austin, she reconnected with surviving college sorority sisters and looked forward to their annual re-unions which were often held in Waco. She was active at the Austin Baptist Church where she was a charter member, and especially loved mission work.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Henry, of Waco; her son, David, of Tulsa; her son, Louis and his wife Nancy, grandson, Jonathan and his wife Jana, and granddaughter, Lauren Tighe and her husband Nick, all of Waco.
