Waco, Texas

Doris Lee  Fisher (Plake) Olsen, 93, of Waco, formally of Lumberton, Tx. went to her heavenly home on March 28, 2020. There are no planned services due to the health issues of our world.
Doris was born on July 13,1926 to Jim and Maudie Fisher.  She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Lumberton. Doris had a very sweet spirit, which was loved by everyone. She loved to wave her hands while singing, journal all her activities, look for sand dollars on the beach, square dance, cook, and take care of her beautiful azaleas and dogwood trees. She had a green thumb for all plants. She always gave people positive compliments. She loved to go out to eat and tell the waitresses and waiters how beautiful or handsome they were. Our family always had the best service due to her kindness. She loved long hair.  She would touch your hair and tell you how beautiful you were. She and her sisters were known as the five "Fisher Sisters". The sisters had a deep bond and intense love for one another. They loved to travel together, rake leaves, and make homemade ice cream at family gatherings. Doris loved to tell stories about her family when they were young. Doris was a fighter. Several times the family was informed she was near death, but each time she surprised everyone and continued living!
Most of all she loved being a mother to her four children. They were her everything. She was very proud of her children and would tell anyone who would listen! She loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. They would entertain her and she would sit and clap for them. She loved being called,"Mamaw Doris".
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Terry, first husband Mike Plake and husband Albert Olsen, sisters, Juanita and Marlene.
Survivors include sisters, Velma Kelly and Ann Clements. Children: son, James Michael Plake, daughter, Debbie Sims, and son, Pat Plake and wife Connie. Grandchildren and spouses: Stephanie Robertson (Keith), Sam Plake (Lindsey), Patrick Plake (Stephanie), Terry Sims (Leslie) Michael Sims (Gina), and David Sims (Mary Beth).
Great grandchildren:  Ashley, Dustin, Hannah, Brody, Treshon, Reece, Ryann, Nolan, Reid, Addison, Ava, Anderson, Nora, Declan, Finn, Ronan, and Colson. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
The family is blessed to have our mom for 93 years! She kept us laughing and brought us joy each day. It was a blessing to share her with many others. Thank you Michael and Gina for sharing shifts in caring for mom. Your help added years to her life and allowed her to stay on the go! Her precious memories will forever live in our hearts.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Wesley Woods nurses and staff for caring and loving our sweet mom.  Our family appreciates all the prayers and sweet comments shared with our family during this time of sorrow.

In lieu of flowers, show kindness and joy to others as mom did everyday.
