Donald Herbert Trompler went to be with his Lord the evening of July 25, 2016 at his home.
Donald was born in Stillwater, OK on March 10, 1931. He was the youngest son of Walter and Majorie (Steffens) Trompler's 13 children. In 1952 he met the love of his life Betty Ann Stibal on a blind date. They were married March 20, 1953 and celebrated their 63rd anniversary this year. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He then returned to Stillwater to attend Oklahoma State University earning his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Aeronautical Engineering in 1958. He worked in aircraft design and certification during his 45 year career. At Mooney Aircraft his team designed the first single engine pressurized airplane in the US, the Mooney M22. He spent the bulk of his career with Piper aircraft where he worked on the design and certification of the Piper PA 34 and 36.
Donald will be remembered as a kind hearted and generous man, an animal lover and a devout Lutheran. He will be missed most by his girls: wife, Betty Ann; daughters, Vicky Trompler and Karen (Trompler) Wente; granddaughters, Jerri (Morgan) Cargill, Breanna Wente and Brooke Wente; great granddaughter, Cecilia Cargill; his sisters, Caroline Bullock and Vicky Davis and his surviving brother Fred Trompler.
His final resting place will be Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce, FL where his infant son was laid to rest in December of 1971.
A memorial service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church 9301 Panther Way, Hewitt, TX Friday, July 29, 2016 at 1:30pm. There will be a lunch in the church fellowship hall preceding the service.
He requested donations be made to Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
