Donald (Bugs) Freeman, 84, of Waco passed away Monday, January 25, 2016. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.
Donald was born June 28, 1931 to Leonard Gaines and Ruby (Mitchell) Freeman in Mart, Texas. At 20 years old, Donald joined and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After serving his country, Donald returned home and began a long career as a conductor. He started working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, which later merged with Union Pacific. After 35 years of service, Donald retired from Union Pacific. Donald loved to play dominos and enjoyed meeting his Lamp Lighter friends on Saturday night at the church. Donald will be missed and was loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Donald is survived by his wife, Marie (Lee) Freeman; daughter, Debra Woodall and husband, Keith; son, Donald Freeman, Jr.; granddaughter, Lauren Freeman; grandson, Landon Freeman; sisters, Helen Ruth Cox, Ruby Brown, and Lois Strait; and brother, Gerald Freeman.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Woods and Dr. John Kosarek for their care of Donald.
