Don Wayne Burlison, 77, peacefully passed from this earth into the arms of Jesus Thursday November 19, 2015 at his home in Waco. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday November 23rd at the First Baptist Church of Woodway. There will be a private remembrance celebration at a later date.
Don was born to William Luther "Bill" and Thelma Louise Burlison on November 25, 1937 in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in the Fort Worth area and lived in Riverside before moving to Richland Hills. After graduating from Birdville High School in 1956, he attended Abilene Christian College and Texas Christian University. From 1956 to 1962, he served in the US Marine Corps Reserves as corporal.
In 1976 he married Ginger Rumfield of Fort Worth. Don had a natural gift with people. He had a long career in sales and marketing with a variety of companies, including Southwestern Bell, AT&T, Southern Products, Apple Leasing, the Don Davis Auto Group, National Health Insurance Co, Churchill's Patio & Fireside and Dunhill Partners. After retiring in 2008, he and Ginger moved to Corpus Christi for nine months before moving to Waco. Don enjoyed his retirement with family and friends and was actively involved in serving God in his church, First Baptist of Woodway.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Jean Dean, all of Fort Worth.
Don is survived by his wife, Ginger; daughter Jan Rae Finley and her husband Craig Finley of Waco.
