Dick Simmons, 73, of Woodway, passed away at his home, October 25, 2017. A Memorial Service will be 4:00 pm, Sunday, October 29, 2017 in the Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be 2:00-4:00 on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Grace Gardens.
Dickie Mack Simmons was born September 10, 1944 in Jacksonville, Texas. He was the son of Carnie Simmons and Mardell Redding Simmons Parker. After the death of his father, he moved to Poynor, Texas and entered school there. He attended John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas where he took metal trades and landed a job at Sterling Faucet upon graduation. He was then transferred to Waco, Texas where he worked at Hercules and Alcoa/Arcomic and continued there until his illness.
He accepted Jesus as his savior at First Baptist Church in Frankston, Texas and was baptized there.
He was preceded in death by his Dad, Carnie Simmons, stepdad, Claude Parker, mom, Mardell Parker, and Beverly Maynard Simmons and an infant grandson.
Dick loved with all his heart and is survived by Felisa Diano. He is also survived by his daughter Melissa Simmons Tant and her husband Steven Tant, grandson, Austin Tant, granddaughter, Natalie Tant, sisters, Rita Simmons Tipton, Sue Simmons Fitzgerald, and Ann Parker Oglesby, brother in laws, Jerry Fitzgerald and Jerry Oglesby.
He was a Shriner of Waco, Texas and found great joy in the care and sharing of his little cars. He was a very diligent worker in his entire life. He loved life and lived it to the fullest and will be missed by his family and friends.
