Delia Contreras DeVries of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 57, on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, July 11th, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Waco, Texas, with Rev. Rakshaganathan Selvaraj (Father Raj) officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary officiated by Deacon Rae Carter Friday, July 10th at 6:00 pm at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive with a visitation to follow from 7 to 8 PM.
Delia was born May 13, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Eduardo and Elena (Cruz) Contreras. Delia graduated from Taylor High School in 1976 and earned a degree in Journalism from Southwest Texas State University in 1980. Through the years, she enjoyed reading and writing poetry.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Elena Contreras.
She is survived by her father, Eduardo Lucio Contreras; two brothers, Edward Contreras and wife Teresa of Woodway; John Contreras and wife Sherri of Fort Worth, Texas; nieces Lisa and Laura Contreras of Austin, Texas; and nephews Cade, Conner and Carson Contreras of Fort Worth, Texas.
