David was born in McGregor, TX on August 15, 1949, to the late Linnie (Lippe) Dietzman and Herbert Lippe. Welcoming him into this world were his brothers Herbert, Douglas, Wayne and sister Linda. David cherished the experience of growing up in a small-town community, fostering lifelong friendships and strong bonds with his classmates. After graduating from McGregor High School, David enlisted in the US Navy, where he proudly served for four years. His military journey commenced with Boot Camp in San Diego and continued on the east coast for crew commissioning on the USS Newport LST 1179. David’s sea duty included several voyages to the Caribbean and Mediterranean, and he amused others with the captivating stories from those experiences. Following his naval service, David began his civilian career in the Waco area, initially working as an electrician with Mitchell Electric and Leland Collier Electric Company. Later, he assumed a supervisory role with Hercules, Inc., concluding his professional journey with the Waco Independent School District, where he retired as the Supervisor of Maintenance and Facilities. David was a leader in his craft and highly respected by his teams and co-workers.
On February 14th, 1969, David married his one true love, Elaine Turner in McGregor TX at Zion Lutheran Church. Together they raised a family, first in Norfolk, VA before settling in the Hewitt area. Their lives were blessed with two wonderful children Kristine and Joseph. David enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and later in life, bird watching and feeding the neighborhood squirrels from his backyard. Family was one of the most important things to David. He once said, “as long as I have my family, I have everything I need.”
David is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Elaine; a daughter, Kristine Williams, and husband Ben of Boston, MA; a son, Joseph, and wife Kerensa of Denton, TX; grandchildren Sarah, Julia, Audrey, Abigail, Mathias; a brother, Douglas, and sister-in-law Carol of Arlington, TX; a sister-in-law, Carla, and husband Leslie Kueck of Rosenburg, TX, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Lippe, mother Linnie (Lippe) Dietzman, sister Linda, and brothers Herbert and Wayne.
David will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. His legacy is etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing in his life’s journey. May he rest in eternal peace.
